Learners at The Weir Nursing Home in Swainshill celebrate their apprenticeship successHoople Training and Education has supported nearly 20 healthcare workers at the Weir Nursing Home in Swainshill, Hereford, to attain Level 2 and 3 apprenticeship qualifications in health and social care and healthcare support.

The qualifications enable the learners to achieve the essential skills and knowledge they need to perform their work, alongside the practical experience they gain in their day to day employment as carers at the Weir. In addition, they have benefited from functional skills training in English and mathematics, which are offered as part of the apprenticeship programme.

Hoople’s Assessor, Maddy Phillips, has worked closely with the learners since their arrival at The Weir. She says: “Many of the learners have progressed from achieving their Level 2 qualification to the Level 3. This means they become even more proficient in the technical knowledge, skills and experience required to be excellent healthcare workers – with obvious benefits to themselves and the residents at the Weir.”

One of the learners commented: “Maddy explains everything very clearly and patiently to us. She is the best assessor and helps us a lot.” The Weir’s Manager, Rita Mills, adds: “I couldn’t speak more highly of Maddy, she is a pleasure to work with.”
