Job details

The Governors, staff and children of St Paul’s CE Primary School are seeking an inspirational and dynamic leader to continue the development of our successful school from September 2020.

Hereford is a picturesque Cathedral city with a friendly market town atmosphere and warm welcome. Tupsley is a residential area, 30 minutes’ walk from the centre.

We are a popular Church of England school, firmly rooted at the heart of the Tupsley community for over 150 years, and with established Christian values at the heart of all that we do. We have 2 form entry, with 428 on roll now.

We were judged Outstanding and Excellent respectively at our most recent Ofsted (2014) and SIAMS Church of England (2019) inspections.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

  • Is committed to developing the distinctive Christian character of our school, to offer an excellent education within its framework of values and beliefs;

  • Has proven management, leadership and communication skills, either as Headteacher or as Deputy Head, which will in turn motivate, develop and support our staff;

  • Will continue the development of a strong educational platform, giving wide-ranging learning opportunities for all children and encouraging innovation amongst the staff team;

  • Will actively promote a strong safeguarding culture throughout the whole school;

  • Will build strong relationships with families, carers, church and the wider community who work in partnership with the school;

  • Has the ability to manage the financial, legal and business responsibilities of being the Headteacher of a standalone Academy school;

  • Has a proven history in teaching, delivering improvements and embedding successful practice.

    In return our School will offer you:

  • A friendly, committed and supportive Governing Body;

  • Strong links to local clergy to support the school’s Christian ethos;

  • A school of happy, enthusiastic and respectful children; and

  • A dedicated team of highly supportive staff who want to provide the very best opportunities for our children.

    Closing date for applications is Tuesday 11th February 2020 at 6pm.

    Shortlisting Date: Wednesday 12th February.

    Representatives of St Paul’s School will arrange to visit shortlisted candidates in their current school environments during the weeks of 24th February and 2nd March.

    Interviews will take place on the Monday 9th March and Tuesday 10th March.

    This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This position is subject to a Criminal Records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formally CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.

    Job start September 2020
