ICT Apprentice

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced and friendly individual to join us at the Steiner Academy Hereford.

As ICT Apprentice you will provide technical support to students and staff ensuring ICT equipment facilitates a quality learning experience in our school. The ICT Department operates centrally across the Academy. You will work to diagnose and support first line issues as well as working on bigger projects as directed by the ICT Network Manager.

You will gain hands-on experience of working on the school’s ICT hardware and software including the school’s website, VLE, interactive whiteboards, multimedia projectors, video conferencing, sound systems, and all other similar or replacement equipment, etc. This includes any hardware or software connected to or accessed through the school’s network, wireless or web links.

Your training will be supported off-site through our external training provider, TDM Wyre Academy. This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in ICT.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) including english, maths and a science or technology subject are essential for this position. We are looking for candidates who are already skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other ICT specialist equipment/resources. Candidates must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Your working week will be 37 hours between Monday to Friday. Some flexibility will be required which will include evening and weekend work, shifts TBC. Expected duration approximately 58 weeks to achieve apprenticeship level – Advanced Level 3 (A level). For those starting at Advanced (Level 3), the expected duration would be eighteen months. There is an opportunity to progress on to the Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) and ultimately on to a Degree Apprenticeship.
