ECHO for Extra Choices in Herefordshire
VOLUNTEERING SUPPORT WORKER
We are seeking a person who understands and is motivated by the benefits that a diverse volunteer team can bring to an organisation.
ECHO is a charity working mainly with people with moderate or severe learning disabilities. We also support people with mental health needs or who have physical or sensory impairments. ECHO runs 25 different activities each week in community settings across Herefordshire.
We currently have over 80 active volunteers. However, an increasing number of people who approach us to become volunteers have their own support needs. Thanks to a grant from the Community Fund we are now able to appoint an additional worker to enable us to support a greater diversity of potential volunteers, whether they be our own participants with learning disabilities, people with mental health conditions or those seeking to return to the jobs market. There is 2 years until the end of the grant.
This is a part time appointment of 33 hours/week, although a job share will be considered (please state this in the application). Due to the nature of the role some flexible working is required including both evenings and occasional weekends. The post holder will be based at our Leominster office, but will be required to visit all our projects in Hereford and Leominster. Access to independent means of transport is therefore an essential requirement of this post.
