We are seeking to appoint someone to be responsible for overseeing all aspects of governance effectiveness and compliance within the school, ensuring governance adheres to good practice and meets all statutory and regulatory requirements. To secure the continuity of governing board business and observe confidentiality requirements by providing:
- administrative and organisational support
- guidance to ensure the board works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences for non-compliance
- advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the board
Attendance is mandatory at Committee and Full Governing Board meetings.
These are usually held at the following times:
Committee meetings 5.00pm – 6.30pm (roughly 2-3 every half term)
Governing Body meeting 5.00pm – 7.00pm (5 per year)
JMHS was inspected by OFSTED in November 2022 who confirmed our good grading and whose comments included:
- Pupils behave well. They are polite to their teachers and considerate of their peers.
- Parents rate teachers’ high expectations because they push pupils to do more. Many say teachers go ‘above and beyond’ for their children.
- Pupils can do unusual stuff at this exciting school.
- School leaders have constructed a rich and engaging curriculum.
The school has excellent pastoral care based around small tutor groups, and there are many enrichment opportunities for students.
John Masefield High School & Sixth Form Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
