St James’ CE Primary School is seeking a caring and dedicated Level 1 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, compassionate, and committed to making a difference in a child’s educational journey.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing individual support to a child, helping them to engage in learning and social activities
  • Supporting their emotional and academic development under the guidance of the class teacher and SEND team
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive interactions with peers
  • Assisting with classroom tasks and lunchtime routines

This role involves working with children and is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

St James CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
