A few hours a month could change a young person’s life. NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service) is looking for volunteers within Herefordshire to provide support and friendship to a young person in care.

Independent Visitor volunteers (IV) create long term supportive friendship with young people in care to provide them with the opportunity to develop their interests, learn new skills and build their self-esteem.

NYAS is looking for volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life to be part of the IV service. The role does not require any specific qualifications and all training will be delivered prior to the start of the role. NYAS does ask that all Independent Visitors commit for a minimum of two years and be able to commit to monthly visits.

Many care-experienced young people experience a revolving door of adults who support them, and they often leave care with very few loving relationships.

For just a few hours each month, you could be the stable, supportive adult these young people need and deserve.

As an Independent Visitor, you'll have the incredible opportunity to build a meaningful friendship with a young person in care. You'll provide them with guidance, support, and most importantly, friendship. Whether it's enjoying fun activities, offering a listening ear, or simply being there, your presence can be life-changing for a young person.
