Love Children Better

Vennture’s Love Children Better collaboration pulls together capable, like-minded charities and schools to make things better for children, offer more to parents and make it easier for schools to respond to family needs.

Vennture’s School Dedicated Link Worker will build relationships with schools and enable children to feel supported by their family, their school and - where possible, their wider community. They will deliver Vennture’s proven whole family mentoring to parents in the home, and develop fresh ways to ‘help families to help themselves’ in the school and community.

You will be fully trained in our relational approach and supported to carry out the following duties and responsibilities…

  • Build relationships of trust with key school staff so they are happy to work collaboratively with Vennture to enhance their prevention offer
  • Work with each school to identify children, young people or families who they would benefit from the fresh ways offer and be the initial point of contact for any fresh ways deliverers.
  • Meet with the family weekly, encouraging them and supporting them to take small steps of change, underpinned by the theory of change
  • Use the Vennture Journey Mapping Toolkit to help families understand key issues and root causes, leading to a practical and family centred action plan which the family/parents own
  • Use other evidenced based strategies to support the family, and the wider family with any additional issues that arise
  • Ensure the view of children are listened to, and heard
  • Create opportunities to meet local families, young people and children to discuss their support needs.
  • Ensure families know what is on offer in their local community
  • Work within established procedures for handling information, both confidentially and taking account of safeguarding and assessing risk.

What we’re looking for…

  • You will have experience and knowledge about issues faced by families encountering difficulties
  • You will be resilient and be passionate about wanting to making a difference to children and families.
  • You may have gone through family challenges and are keen to help others?
  • It is important that you understand that parenting can be difficult and challenging and are able to work with diverse family situations in a non-judgemental way.
  • We will provide opportunities for training, but any knowledge and experience of parenting, special needs, mental health, domestic abuse, isolation and loneliness will be beneficial to the role.
  • You will have the ability to provide concise, accurate and informative written reports and verbal updates.
  • You will have the ability to both work as a self-motivated individual and a team player
  • You will need to be a car driver with access to a car.

The benefits you will experience are….

  • You will work within a strong supportive team of link workers and volunteers who are passionate about making a difference for families
  • You will work within schools but have our lovely riverside office as a base,

close to the city centre where there is plenty of space to work collaboratively and talk through problems over a piece of cake!

  • You will have a fully supported induction programme and robust safe working protocols
  • You will automatically be enrolled into Vennture’s workplace pension NEST and be covered by our non-contributory life insurance policy

If you are an inspirational and committed individual with a real desire to support people, we want to hear from you.

Closing Date: Wednesday April 24 at 5pm                      Interviews: April 29, 2024
