Job details

Thank you for taking an interest in our school. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and talented HLTA to join us and work within our autism provision at Aylestone. This is a Local Authority provision for up to 8 students which will be based within our school environment and provide education and structure for students with autism.
This is a great opportunity to join an innovative team and be part of its future success. You should have a passion for supporting and challenging students to achieve their best possible outcomes through inclusive learning across Key Stage 3 and 4.
Aylestone School is an oversubscribed co-educational 11-16 school, located in the picturesque Cathedral City of Hereford, adjacent to the Herefordshire Colleges' campus for Further Education, and a 10-minute walk from the city railway station. The school is a popular choice with parents in Herefordshire as it is a small school (450 students) but is still able to offer the breadth, choice and opportunities of larger schools.
Aylestone School is federated with two primary schools with one Executive Headteacher and a single Governing Body. Herefordshire Council have recently approved an investment of £13.1 million for Aylestone School for the building of a new sports hall and teaching block to enable the school to increase its capacity to 750 students.
We offer you an exciting opportunity to work with a supportive team in supporting the resourced provision for up to 8 students with ASD across Key Stage 3 and 4 at Aylestone, both within the base and in mainstream lessons. Whilst the school has a relentless focus on high expectations and aspirations, we are proud to provide a happy and nurturing environment, so that as well as maturing into well-rounded, confident young people, our students develop a passion for learning. We are looking for a candidate who:
• has enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the achievement, safeguarding and welfare of all students
• has humour, perspective and an ability to bring out the best in others
• has excellent communication skills
• has high expectations of behaviour
• is flexible, accommodating and a team-player
• is an inclusive individual, with high expectations of all students and is committed to all students reaching their full potential
• will support the school’s staff in understanding and meeting the needs of students to promote progress and positive outcomes
We can offer:
• a supportive staff team and vibrant professional community
• a commitment to continuing professional development
• a positive school culture
• appropriate training if necessary

Aylestone School and the governing body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
and young people and vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring
Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The
post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job
applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are
"protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
