The Governors of our thriving and happy school would like to appoint a School Business Manager to play a key role in the administration of this hardworking and successful school.
You will pay a key role in financial management ensuring best value is achieved and will have a proven track record of delivering value for money. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider development of our school, for example overseeing health and safety contracts.
The post requires a range of skills, experience and qualifications:
§ A Certificate of School Business Management (CSBM) and/or a Diploma in School Business Management (DSBM) and/or significant relevant experience.
§ Overseeing financial functions within the school ensuring compliance with sound principles of school finance. You will have strong budget planning and monitoring skills and sourcing external funding and grant opportunities.
§ Manage procurement, contracts and value for money.
§ Experience of Premises (Health and Safety) and Facilities Management/Contract Management.
§ Excellent communication skills and the ability to present both written and verbal information for the Head Teacher, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors.
§ A genuine desire to involve yourself fully in the life of our school and to work as part of our forward-thinking team of professionals and be willing to make a major contribution to the work of the SLT.
§ Knowledge and understanding of Human Resource Management.
§ Lead and manage the administration and caretaking team, including the administrative ICT facilities (and to act as School Information Management System Manager), School Reception, Reprographics, Records and Telephones.
§ To be committed to our school ethos and values.
§ Be highly motivated and committed to teamwork with a ‘can do’ attitude.
§ To deal with parent queries and be the first port of call in liaising with parents.
§ Liaise with external agencies, suppliers and the local authority
§ Support the Headteacher with HR processes and compliance requirements
§ Ensure the school runs efficiently and welcomes all visitors warmly
We are looking for someone who:
§ Is determined to make a difference to our school community.
§ Has experience in financial management, ideally within a school or public sector setting
§ Office administration, including front-of-house reception and communications
§ Liaise with external agencies, suppliers and the local authority.
§ Can ensure the effective management, reporting and recording of the school’s finances.
§ Shows an ability to use existing resources to overcome challenges and creates new and effective solutions.
§ Understands and analyses data to identify options and make recommendations.
§ Demonstrates emotional intelligence, integrity, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritise.
§ Is a highly effective communicator
§ Can handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
§ Works well as part of a team and has a sense of humour.
