Salary: MPS/UPS

Herefordshire Pupil Referral Service (HPRS) provides education to pupils unable to attend mainstream school for various reasons. The successful applicant will predominately be based at The Aconbury Centre and will teach and support key stage 3 students.

We provide a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment in which young people can grow as responsible, independent and self-confident learners. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher to join HPRS, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about their chosen subject and wants to share that passion with young people.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate teacher, someone who can build relationships with small groups of pupils and encourage them to realise that they can experience success in not just their studies, but in their life in general. Most of our pupils have experienced failure and we work to empower them and to support them to achieve.

Experience of working in a PRU or alternative provision setting would be advantageous but not essential. We are looking for someone with a passion for their subject, someone who is approachable, reflective, calm and cares about the disadvantaged.

Our aim is to re-engage our pupils in learning and to provide them with a high-quality curriculum where they can develop their skills in a safe and secure environment.

Role responsibilities:

·       To support the wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience and behaviour management within The Aconbury Centre

·       To promote positive learning behaviour with students.

·       To create a classroom atmosphere that inspires children to learn and feel safe to challenge themselves in their learning and emotional development.

·       Being committed to motivating our learners with effective well differentiated teaching tailored to the individual needs of the pupils.

·       To plan for and teach lessons as directed by the timetable each week.

·       To create and collate information relating to lessons taught.

·       To assist in the preparation of information relevant to the meetings about students.

What we offer:

·       A workplace that values the emotional health and wellbeing of everyone, students and staff.

·       An opportunity to make a huge contribution to the lives and lifelong learning of vulnerable children who deserve high quality teaching in a safe educational provision.

·       A friendly and inclusive team who are passionate about improving pupil outcomes.
