We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, and committed Level One SEN Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and dedicated team. The successful candidate will support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) both in and out of the classroom, fostering a positive, inclusive and nurturing environment where all children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with individuals or small groups of children under the direction of teaching staff.
- Support pupils with a range of SEN, using strategies aligned with the Thrive Approach and emotional coaching techniques.
- Help to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment tailored to individual needs.
- Use creativity to deliver engaging and accessible learning opportunities.
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teachers.
- Promote positive behaviour with a firm but fair approach.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and maintain a sense of humour.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of resources and activities.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
- Ensure the safety, welfare, and safeguarding of all pupils at all times.
- Participate in relevant training and development activities as required.

Person Specification:
Essential:
- A good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Understanding of the needs of children with SEN and a strong commitment to inclusive education.
- Ability to use emotional coaching strategies and an understanding of the Thrive Approach.
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good personal communication and interpersonal skills.
- A creative and proactive approach to learning.
- A strong commitment to achievement and the wellbeing of all children.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and maintain a sense of humour.
- Able to build positive, respectful relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Firm but fair in managing behaviour and supporting children's emotional development.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to keeping children safe.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a school or SEN environment.
- Additional training relevant to SEN or emotional wellbeing.
