Job details
with opportunities as Year 1/Year 2 Teaching Assistant
Up to 16 part-time three-year-olds (or eight full-time equivalent) are based within a Foundation Stage room and outdoor area. They work alongside an established Reception-age class. You will help to create a highly-effective team which includes a Reception teacher (Manager) and Deputy Manager of the setting. You may also be working in a Key Stage 1 class as a Teaching Assistant working 1:1 and with small groups.
We are seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic Early Years practitioner with an appropriate Level 2 or 3 qualification who will help to create inspiring approaches to learning within the setting. You will be a confident and caring practitioner who has knowledge and expertise of the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will actively support the Manager and school leaders to ensure the three-year-olds reach appropriate outcomes in safe ways through careful observation of their actions.
Initially, you may also spend time in a Year 1 / Year 2 classroom. Your adaptability, compassion and pro-active teaching skills will enable children to receive the right intervention at the right time under the direction of the class teacher. Having the right skills to work alongside children with SEND would be advantageous.
You will also need:
• To be familiar with and actively promote safe and secure activities – in response to your knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education.
• To support all staff to maintain the highest quality of childcare within the school.
• To help create a vibrant and welcoming setting within the Foundation Stage classroom and outdoor area.
• To build and maintain strong links between parents, children, other staff, and governors.
• To be able to work on your own initiative but within an ethos of mutual support.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and targets in relation to your role.
• To provide information on the progress of children under your specific care to the (Deputy) Manager and school leaders.
• To work with external agencies to support children’s learning, behaviour and development.
• To be supportive of the school’s Christian ethos.
We can offer you an environment where we care about what you do and who you are. You will be ably supported and helped to fulfil your skills so that our children – and you – flourish.
Pembridge CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service. Appointment to this post is also subject to appropriate qualifications and satisfactory references.
