We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed person to join our professional team within our vibrant and successful school in the heart of rural Herefordshire.
You will carry out general maintenance duties within the school sites. Ideally semi-skilled in carpentry/painting/decorating and general site work and gardening. Experience of working on a school site is an advantage, but full training will be provided.
You will have a 'can do' approach and the ability to carry out the physical aspects of the role, for example, cleaning, manual handling, DIY, lifting and general maintenance.
The successful candidate will:
· be committed to working with young people and supportive of the inclusive ethos of the school
· Be able to lead maintenance projects and liaise with contractors working for the school.
· be responsible for the day to day maintenance of the school site
· operate the various maintenance systems (e.g. heating, plumbing)
· oversee and undertake cleaning duties throughout the school
· have responsibility for the security of the premises and act as a key holder to attend callouts
· be organised and able to follow instructions in a busy environment
· need to have a flexible approach to work while supportively working as part of a team
· be able to communicate effectively with staff and pupils
· line management of caretaker and cleaners
A full list of responsibilities can be found on the job description attached.
There is an element of health and safety to be undertaken and therefore training will be provided where required.
The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 7.5 hours per day (attendance between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 and includes half hour overtime per week). There will be a need for a degree of flexibility in hours, to perform overtime where required and to cover for certain events held outside the usual school hours.
